The selected artist for the 2013 PIPA Partnership with Gasworks is Marcius Galan.
This award is by nomination only.
PIPA (Professional Investor Award for Art) is a collaboration between Investidor Profissional (IP) and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio). Established in 2010, it seeks to award and promote artists whose practice is considered relevant and distinguished within both the Brazilian and International art market, through an annual award programme. The winner receives a cash prize, as well as a three month residency at Gasworks. This is the second year in an ongoing partnership with Gasworks.
The residency comprises:
- Accommodation and living expenses in London
- A studio at Gasworks
- An artist's talk and Open Studio, or similar public presentations, at Gasworks
- Administrative, pastoral and curatorial support from Gasworks.
This residency considers mid-career Brazilian artists, by nomination only.
The 2012 PIPA artist at Gasworks was Tatiana Blass. This residency took place from 12 April 2012 - 12 June 2012.
The 2011 PIPA artist at Gasworks was Renata Lucas. This residency took place from 9 April 2011 - 23 June 2011.
The panel for this partnership consists of Rowan Geddis (Residencies Coordinator, Gasworks) and members nominated by the PIPA Council. The PIPA Council 2011 comprised Vinhaes and Christiano Roberto Fonseca Filho (Co-Founders of Professional Investor) and Carlos Alberto Luiz Gouvea Chateaubriand and Camillo Osorio (President and Curator of the MAM-Rio respectively).
