Laura Hamilton's work explores colour, mark making and the physicalities of paint in a fresh and direct way. Abstract marks evolve, their source is not immediately apparent but derives from an awareness of architectural and domestic forms; their profile and mass, surface and scale. The result is a series of large, bold paintings which have a playful yet subtle presence.

This was Gasworks resident artist Laura Hamilton's first solo exhibition in London. The exhibition was also shown at the Norrie Toch Gallery near Edinburgh. Previously she has exhibited in a number of shows including a one person exhibition in Jamaica, her country of birth, the Oriel Mostyn Open in Wales, White Out at the Curwen Gallery, London and Black as Colour at the National Gallery, Jamaica.
