This education project with St. Mark's Primary School was led by artist Damien Roach coinciding with his solo exhibition at Gasworks The deepness of puddles. The pupils aged 7and 8 worked with everyday materials to create 3D models which, using photography, were transformed into fantastical landscapes.

Over four workshops, Damien Roach shared his own playful approach towards objects and images and encouraged the children to challenge their own first impressions, seeing commonplace materials in a new light. The children had the opportunity to engage with the works shown in The deepness of puddles, to participate in games and create 2D and 3D landscapes, transforming materials into model fantasy islands. Using digital photography and simple lighting, the children learned how to present their models in creative ways.
