Itinerant Assembly: Movement Workshop With They Are Here
7 May 17
11am - 2pm. Locations: Gasworks & Kennington Park
Collective practice They Are Here and dancer Thiru Seelan host a movement workshop; how is thinking affected by movement and movement affected by thinking?
What is the power of the crowd? What does it reveal about invisibility and, in return, what visibility does it offer? This workshop invites the public to explore the wider project themes of community, nomadism and networks of people. Informed by Crowds and Power (1960) and Rehearsing Collectivity: Choreography Beyond Dance (2012), it is not only about the movement of one’s own body in space, but a political body or movement of people.
A one hour movement workshop, followed by a picnic discussion in Kennington Park. This is curated by Itinerant Assembly, as part of the Curating Contemporary Art programme Graduate Projects 2017, Royal College of Art, in partnership with Gasworks.
Suitable for 18 years +. Bring clothes that allow you to move freely.
This is a free event, though places are limited and booking is essential.
