This summer project ran was the first in the series of Opening the Doors, a programme of art activities for families of all ages to take part in together. Running over three Saturdays in July and August 2006 during the school summer holidays, a range of local families took part in sessions inspired by contemporary art.

Each Saturday, different families worked with artist Emma Smith to create a variety of works including drawing from photographs, storyboarding and model making with photography. Families looked at a range of artists practices as inspiration for their own work, including the open submission exhibition Blink, exhibiting at Gasworks at the time.

Opening the doors I concluded with an exhibition in Gasworks' Education Room from 9 - 10 September, 2006.
