Group Visits
Gasworks encourages groups to visit, from local organisations, schools and universities, to more informal gatherings. Tours led by Gasworks’ staff are free and can be tailor-made to each group’s needs. Through presentations or open discussions we are able to facilitate a deeper engagement in specific aspects of our programme such as exhibitions and curatorial strategies, international exchange, professional practice and opportunities in the arts. Beyond Gasworks’ programmes onsite we are also part of Triangle Arts Trust, an international network of artists and organisations whose activities involve establishing workshops, studios and residencies, many of which are led by artists in over 20 countries worldwide. During visits groups are welcome to make use of our activities room, perhaps hosting their own crit sessions, screenings, lectures or more hands-on workshops, depending on availability.

Free Public Events
Gasworks’ programmes frequently proposes free events for the public, giving a further insight into or new perspective on, a specific aspect of their project whilst encouraging discussion and participation among the audience. Our International Residency Programme invites visiting artists at the beginning of their stay to present their work and methods. These talks are an opportunity for debate, offering the audience thought-provoking insights into the practices of emerging international artists. The talks can also be a chance for artists to learn from their peers. A further opportunity to engage directly with visiting artists comes at the end of their residencies when they open their studios to the public. Gasworks’ exhibitions programme takes a broad approach to the visual arts and within this vein strives to incorporate various methods of presentation to complement its core programme. Events can range from seminars, screenings, performances, guest curated events, book launches and live music.
