Carlos Blanco's work also shows a preoccupation with travel and displacement. He is perhaps best known for his large inflatable sculptures and installations.

At Gasworks Blanco has created a site specific work incorporating large inflatable frames. He invited other members of the Gasworks group to make individual contributions to the work by filling the inflatable frames with their breath intended as a way of capturing something of the people he encountered during his journey. The image in the frame contributes to the idea of the souvenir. Blanco's work looks at his own position as a traveling artist and the transitory nature of the links and connections made during the travel. Blanco's Open Studio coincides with a solo exhibition at The Space at inIVA from June 20 - July 20.
