Eustaquio Neves' photographs reveal the juxtapositions and the hidden contradictions resulting from the relationships between histories, cultures and their location. While in London, Neves continued to develop his project on 'Navio Negreiro', looking at the development of diasporic black communities in South London.

'In Brixton I identify with places, people and everyday activities. As I wander around with the critical eye of a researcher and the admiration of a foreigner, I feel a sense of belonging'.

Eustaquio Neves has exhibited worldwide including the Photographers Gallery in 1996, the recent Havana and Tokyo Bienales and, currently, at Wolsburg Kunst Museum, Germany. His residency at Gasworks was supported by Autograph ABP.
