Risang Yuwono works with photography to document local cultural groups and communities; he runs a not for profit underground community photography project called 'Bautanah Street Gallery' located behind Cikini Jakarta train station in Jakarta, Indonesia. For the last year Yowono has been working collaboratively with UK based artist Helen Marshall on ‘Project Tobong’- A research and development arts project with the Ketoprak Tobong Kelana Bakti Budaya, one of the last remaining theatre troupes in Yogyakarta, Java, Indonesia.

Yuwono lives and works in Jakarta, Indonesia. Graduating in 2009 in Photography from the photography faculty at Jakarta Institute of Art, Institut Kesenian Jakarta, he currently works as a freelance photographer on a number of commercial and social cultural assignments. He has had his work published in national and international press including the Jakarta Post, Tempo Magazine and Jakarta Institute. Yuwono also teaches at the National Islam University, and runs the not for profit community photography project ‘Bautanah Street Gallery’.

His residency is supported by the British Council and the Arts Council England.
