Wong Hoy Cheong's work is interdisciplinary, involving areas such as drawing, installation, video, performance and theatre. His recent works have explored the interrelationships of politics, culture and ethnicity through the use of materials such as plants, text and food.

Wong Hoy-Cheong exhibited at the Blue Coat Gallery in Liverpool from the 20 July to 31 August in a touring solo show organised by OVA. Other venues were Djanogly Art Gallery in Nottingham and John Hansard Art Gallery, in Southampton. OVA launched a retrospective DVD on Wong Hoy Cheong at Gasworks Studios during his open studio on 5th September 2002, from 6pm.
