Often working with installations, Youngmi Chun hopes to generate a public visual discourse around private thoughts. Her practice follows concerns related to different states of human existence. Recent interests for Chun have been what she sees as the inherent contradictions in the search to attain perfection through technology, as well as questioning the progress in contemporary art since the birth of modernism.
As a starting point for the residency Chun will be comparing media publications from South Korea and the UK.
Youngmi Chun lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. Her residency is supported by ARKO, Arts Council Korea.
