Gasworks alumni Monira Al Qadiri has produced a new limited edition print referencing her first UK solo exhibition, The Craft, which was commissioned by Gasworks in 2017.
Conspirational Memories explores Gulf politics, the artist's experience of pop culture and Americana while growing up in the Middle East, and her complicity in the 'junk food frenzy of capitalism'.
Monira Al Qadiri is a Kuwaiti visual artist born in Senegal and educated in Japan. In 2010, she received a Ph.D. in inter-media art from Tokyo University of the Arts, where her research was focused on the aesthetics of sadness in the Middle East stemming from poetry, music, art and religious practices. Her work explores unconventional gender identities, petrocultures and their possible futures, as well as the legacies of corruption. Al Qadiri is part of the artist collective GCC and has recently been nominated for the Future Generation Art Prize 2018.
* Please note that as is traditional in editions publishing, prices will increase as the work sells out.
